Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever - Hebrews 13:8

Profile of The General Overseer

The life of Pastor E.A. Adeboye can be described as a life of Purpose, his early life began with a humble family background when he was born to the family of Mr. & Mrs. Moses Adeboye on the 3rd of March 1942 in Ifewara, Osun State of Nigeria. The hydrodynamics doctorate degree holder experienced a lot of obstacles in his bid to get educated; His education was a struggle because his parents could not afford to pay his School fees. However through sheer determination and hard work as well as the support of his mother Esther Adeboye, he was able to sail through. While at school, he shone like a million stars. What his parents lacked in material wealth, he made up in Academic excellence. He scored straight A's from primary school to the University level. Little wonder he aspired to become the youngest Vice-Chancellor in Africa but God had a different plan for him. He was on the verge of fulfilling this life ambition when the Holy Spirit "arrested" him in 1973.

Two events helped to bring this to pass in his life. That year, a friend invited him to the headquarters of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, in a search of a solution to a personal problem, which had plagued his life. There, the unexpected happened, Adeboye became a follower of Jesus Christ, since then there has been no turning back. Also fate linked him up with the late founder of the Church, and events began to unfold in quick successions. Two years after he joined the RCCG and was ordained a Pastor of the Church in 1975. He also served as the official interpreter of the founder. He accompanied him to many conferences and pastoral meetings both within and outside Nigeria.

By Divine selection, Pastor Adeboye succeeded Rev. Josiah Akindayomi, when the latter passed on to glory in 1980: The final moment came when he was ordained as the General Overseer in February 1981 and so Dr. Adeboye dropped the chalk for the microphone forever. The RCCG, under Pastor Adeboye has witnessed a tremendous growth. Currently it has presence in over 90 Nations in the world. The Church now at 50 has more than 6,000 parishes worldwide. The Church under his leadership has recorded tremendous breakthrough in foreign missions especially in Europe and North America. Recently, the mission began the construction of the Redemption Camp on it's newly acquired 114 acres of Land in Dallas Texas.

Pastor Adeboye is married to Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye and the marriage is blessed with four children.
